GoPro’s Quik app has always promised powerful editing tools for creators on the go, but its onboarding and navigation were leaving users behind. New users weren’t discovering value fast enough, leading to early drop-off and missed subscription opportunities. To unlock retention and engagement, we conducted an in-depth discovery to radically rethink how users are introduced to the app, how they navigate it, and how they connect with its most meaningful features.

When I joined GoPro, it didn’t take long to identify the issues in the design system—multiple, scattered design systems that were neither consistent nor complete, and a lack of a bridge between design and development. Rather than settle for the status quo, I set out to build a unified, scalable design system that would serve not just designers but the entire product and engineering ecosystem across all OS platforms.
